And damn, im working. Stupid states synch. I do get Friday off though, thats the good news, long weekend.

After 5 i beleive im going to hang out with Rauni and crew for a Canada Day get together. Im going to try and coax everyone into catching Public Enemies, the new Johnny Depp movie, or i may have to catch it on Friday or something, but thats cool.

TorqueScript amazes me with how limited you still feel. Ill admit i didn't look too far in depth, but all i had to notice was the severe lack of documentation about it. Sur ei can make a space invaders game with just drag and drop, sure i can make a simple platformer with just some modest code and mostly the editor.
But thats not what i wanted to do. I only wanted torque Game Builder to manage resources and maintain cross-platform compatibility. The rest was to be coded.
TorqueScript doesn't let me do this. In a way, Flash is STRONGER than Torque. go figure.

So that being said, im switching back over to C#. Why C#? Because i dont really feel i want to re-learn C++ and be THAT low-level. I want some power, but i dont want to code 100% everything from scratch for a game project. C# seems to fit this nice middle ground of ObjectOriented friendly inviting environment, while still maintaining enough power to do anything you please however you please. Plus C# lets me easily program tools i can use to speed up the authoring of the assets that dont involve drawing.

feral|Engine is planned as a 2.5D Fighter Engine to power "Tournament of the Claw (working name)"
3D Graphical Capabilities provided by OpenGL (Thanks to the Tao Wrapper)
3D Levels with possible planned breakable hotspots
3D Camera allows for smooth transitions and stylish angles
2D Sprite based characters for authentic oldschool fighter feel
3D sprite based particles with lighting effects

Characters will be modeled in 3D and rendered as 2D sprite sheets for semi-fluid animation with special care to capture authentic 2D sprite work
If time is permitted, each characters sheet will be re-imagined in Digital 2D with hand drawn frames instead of 3D renders

The source will not be open, and no it will not be modifiable enough nor will the tools be released to add your own characters post-release. Character data must remain encrypted to avoid easy cheating. However youd be free to modify the existing characters graphical sheet (aka Reskins). Think of modding Counter-Strike here.

Tournament of the Claw (working title) is obviously a fighting game with a special focus on Anthropomorphic Bi-Pedal Characters focusing on woodland creatures. The storyline overall is about a set of world protectors and a small group of characters bent on not world domination but world control.
More of the story will be revealed at a later date.
